Awards Ceremony

The traditional Awards Ceremony at ISCAS will be held in the CCB Main Auditorium and comprises Fado singing. Fado is a music genre which can be traced to the 1820s in Portugal, but probably with much earlier origins. Due to its’ unique characteristics, Fado was inscribed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists in 2011.

Gala Dinner

Convento do Beato

Convento do Beato

The Awards Ceremony is followed by a Gala Dinner at Convento do Beato. The history of Convento do Beato dates back to the 15th century. In the 16th century, started the construction of the monastery. During the following centuries it was also used as a Royal Military Hospital and as a modern manufacturing plant where a steam engine was operated for the first time in Portugal.

Recognized over the years for its magnificent construction, in 1984 Convento do Beato was classified by IPPAR (the Portuguese Institute for Architectural Heritage) as a Heritage Site of Public Interest, and it was used for holding a number of events of a cultural nature.
