ISCAS’2015 conference will take place at the Cultural Centre of Belém (CCB).
Cultural Centre of Belém (CCB) is located near a renovated waterfront, overlooking the Tagus River, in a prestigious and notorious area of the city. Apart from fronting the Imperial Square, it juxtopositions the Jerónimos Monastery, and is surrounded by many historical buildings, such as the Belém National Palace (the official residence of the Portuguese President), the Tower of Belém, the Museum of Archaeology, the Planetarium and the Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos).
With its 140,000 m2 spaces, it was initially built to accommodate the Portugal’s European Union Presidency (in 1992), but it was later adapted to provide spaces for conferences, exhibitions and artistic venues (such as opera, ballet and symphony concerts), in addition to political and research congresses, high security meeting halls, and a versatile exhibition area.
The Centre facilities include a large Auditorium with 1429 seats, and several smaller auditoriums and meetings rooms, comprising a total exhibition area of 35.000 m2. It also offers the possibility to have different entrances, reception areas and large foyers, and it served by several bars and restaurants with an amazing river view. The Centre is surrounded by a splendorous garden (Jardim das Oliveiras), offering perfect public spaces for relaxing at sound of the shows performed there, with a privileged view over Tagus River, Padrão dos Descobrimentos and Tower of Belém. The name is related with the large amount of centenary olive trees planted there.
Cultural Centre of Belém (CCB) is located at 20 minutes from Lisbon International Airport and it can be easily reached by bus or tramway from other city locations.
